Channeling the mother goddess, Asherah epitomizes femininity and strength. Her long, clean lines are juxtaposed with the textured surfaces; this creates visual tension for the viewer. Her natural earth tones bring an African inspired feeling about the piece.
I remember going out to his studio and taken aback with this significant change in this sculpture- the decisive cuts, the paint… “why did you do this?”…. She was boring…..
