Tulip poplar wood, painted
She was carved from a tree David planted the same year his wife Susan was born. Female in elemental form. the gouge marks and cross hatching show the carving process. Note the lack of the traditional Hostetler face; this wedge form is being used in more of his sculpture. It formalizes the sculpture, adding purity to the lines. This can be commissioned in bronze for outdoor placement.
